No Stars by No Sky God

"No Stars," the fifth album by No Sky God, explores folk rock themes from the band's earliest days on songs like "We Can't Work It Out" and "Ponder, while also tilting in a more experimental direction on "Winds/Rivers" and "Las Vegas." The centerpiece of the record is the sprawling "You're Looking Through Me" which moves through several discrete sections, drawing inspiration from the suite-like compositions of the late period Beatles. The record opens with "No Sky God" the song, a straightforward pop number spiritually inspired by the work of David Bowie, while "Present Absence (The Ghost)" is an attempt at melding aspects of the vibes of Nirvana and Animal Collective.
