The time had come for mankind
For God's kingdom was at hand
All heaven looked in wonder at His coming gift and plan
To carry out His purpose, Mary was the chosen one
This holy seed she carried would be God's very Son

You have laid Your glory down
And have put aside Your crown for us

To the Virgin Mary was born a precious baby boy
To all who watched Him grow He brought wonder and great joy
But only few did realise why God's virtue was in Him
He would be the one to save all people from their sin

Before too long some brothers and some sisters came along
He was such a good example, he simply did no wrong

When He died upon the cross it was for you and me

Now He is ascended to heaven with the throng
Eternal "Hallelujahs" to Him they all belong
One day soon He's coming back and every eye shall see
Until that time, He's given precious gifts to you and me
