I stand upon my origin
My roots are in my steps
So when I cross this path again
I know just where I'll rest

My fingers linger in the present
Fidget with the wind
If they forsake their origin
In stronger winds I'll slip

I choose to lay my best foundations
Spaces where the earth embraced me
Made it home, couldn't say when
I arrived upon a genesis

Did I perform for the sake of it?
To feel at home in skin?
Histories of now and then
My makeshift map within
