of the darkness
silence falls without me listening

dead ends meeting
undead heart beating
consciousness receding
cancelling out all dreaming

our last anchor is our sense of loss
as a senseless curse
collapses the known universe
a chasm of remorse we’ll never cross
as particles disperse
into the void with no hope of rebirth

will I ever face the consequence
of what I chose to do
neglecting to be close to you
as the last trace of coherence ends
I wonder if you knew
and searched for me in vain to face the truth

fusion failing
quantum bonds breaking
emptiness unveiling
