Last night I wandered over to watch Memoria. I usually find Tilda Swinton quite annoying. And I usually like quiet slow films where nothing much happens. So things cancelled themselves out and I stayed awake, was a little bored but also a little riveted, and liked it lots near the end when it all went a bit weird - in fact, i found that all very beautiful. Much more riveting was my walk back home through town. Everyone who's walked thru a city-centre on a Friday night will've seen it all, of course, and I didn't see anything new, but I did seem to see a lot more than usual - outside every pub and even outside a couple of quite good restaurants people were bending over and being supported as they vomited. People were noisy and demonstrative and outgoing - such a shame that it takes so much drink for them to behave what I'd guess is just naturally. I never felt any aggression going on between/from anyone. It was just a return to 2019. Or a Downing Street party. God they must be pissing themselves - how gullible we all were.
