Catabasi by Fosgene

"Catabasi" is the first tape from Fosgene, a d-beat/crust band from Bassano del Grappa, and it delivers a fierce blend of familiar and raw sounds.
Across five tracks, the band draws from the roots of the genre-classic d-beat influences mixed with the cold edge of black metal and the rawness of early Italian hardcore.
"Golgota" is an instrumental track performed with a trumpet, serving as both an anthem and a prelude to the messianic and post-apocalyptic imagery explored in the following songs.
"Dissolvi e Coagula" ("Dissolve and Coagulate") kicks in with sharp, aggressive riffs, conjuring a vision of the outcasts of a ruined city rising to reclaim their place.
The chaotic energy peaks in "Putrefactio," where the perspective shifts to a non-human viewpoint, describing an unstoppable black death engulfing both cities and their surroundings. Here, punk rhythms are interwoven with black metal riffs and blast beats, capturing the return of urban decay to a medieval state.
The final tracks, "Nigredo" and "Leviatano," intertwine these perspectives, depicting a collapsing social order in a world where political structures disintegrate. “Leviatano" slows the pace, alternating between relentless speed and a crushing heaviness, mirroring the fall of the political leviathan itself.
