Fuquetal from Fuquetal by Skyko

Fuquetal is a driving Synth Pop / Synthwave song with melancholy undertones, but also an optimistic inner heart. The theme came from the days where I laid on by bed as a kid and dreamed of a more gratifying / adventurous life outside the walls of the small, humdrum suburban town in which I lived.

That first paragraph summarizes the thought process that went into Fuquetal, but hardly emphasizes the traumatic depth of which I felt to get the hell out of there and get to a big metropolitan city such as NYC or Los Angeles.

The Synthwave genre was perfect for this track because I landed in the sun-struck, palm tree lined streets of Hollywood, California in the summer of 1984.

Some of the synths that I incorporated are an original JD800 that I bought in 1991 for the glassy electronic piano intro, an analog Sequential Pro3 for the driving bassline and a Linn Drum machine for the kick, snare and hi hats. I used a Simmons VSDSX plugin by Aly James Lab (https://alyjameslab.com/alyjameslabvsdsx.html) for the ubiquitous 80's toms.

The subway train sound effect in the intro symbolizes my dreams of being rescued and whisked away to a land where I could make my life recording music and socializing with other creative artists, filmmakers, actors & performers.
