Branches by Slot Canyons

Branches is a gathering of songs recorded from 2021-2024. During that time, Slot Canyons (Ryan) was experimenting using Eurorack modular equipment for the first time.

This new approach has led to a more hi-fi sound that still holds the warmth of previous releases. The tracks also still rely on slowly evolving repetition that will bring the listener in and out of consciousness.

Ryan was heavily inspired by the landscapes and elements of the British Isles when drawing up ideas for this new album and dedicated one track to the Sycamore Gap tree that was tragically cut down earlier this year.

He also wanted to work closely with people he knew from his time in China. Cherry, a guitarist from Sonicave band, who Ryan knows from his days of touring China, helped master the tracks onto tape and then polished them up digitally. Rindo is a multi-talented artist and musician from Wuhan. She helped design the album cover based on her interpretation of the music.

Slot Canyons is an ambient electronic music project that combines elements of field recordings, fragmented electronics and woozy synths.
