The Healing by Stavros

Overview

Inspired by a period of deep transition and upheaval, The Healing is an emotional diary of hope, fear and fruition from which came one of the most profound creative experiences of my life.


Artwork

The paintings I created for the artwork reflect the volatile and transitional space I was in when this music surfaced, a journey fueled by a constant flurry of emotion and uncertainty.
The cover depicts an ambiguous moment of humility somewhere between offering and acceptance.


Concert

On October 6 1999 I invited friends, family and strangers to an inconspicuous black box theatre in the heart of Toronto called the Music Gallery where I gave my first ever CD release concert. It was a terrifying and euphoric experience in which
music was shared, stories were told and hearts were moved.

I’ve listened to your self defeating lies
but I don’t hear you anymore

I’ve seen a light within the void
and I hear a song amidst the noise
and strange as it may seem

I’ve felt the stifle of your cold embrace
but I don’t feel you anymore
I’ve taken shelter in your dark and empty space
but I don’t need you anymore

I’ve grown beyond your fear and pain
let go of all your guilt and shame

Note: These lyrics, which appear on the jacket artwork, come from a song I wrote just as the CD was being finished.
While the song itself did not make it on the CD, it is in essence a thank you note to the shadow which spurred on my creative process.

Stavros is a multi instrumentalist singer and songwriter based in Toronto Canada with a deep love for all things world music and improvisation !
