There’s a peace in the valley,

a piece of junk in the yard
And there’s something I see
when I don’t look too hard.
There’ a place in the shadow
that covers the chair
And some letters you’ve kept
through the years that we’ve shared.
There’s a moon in the window,
some shoes on the floor
a breeze full of memories
blows through the screen door
the grey shades of twilight say
this long day is done
and there’s a couch where the
two of us melt into one
And I remember tomorrow
like it was yesterday
and tomorrow comes easy
like kids out at play
in the dirt, in the bushes,
in the fallen oak trees
on the edge of a matchbook,
a little you mixed with me.
Now there’s too much between us
that we’ll never forget
no matter how hard we both try
Too much that’s seen us
through the bad times and worse
Between us till death do us die
