Moments by Steve Whitehouse
This album takes a selection of states and images that resonated with me and navigates through the different aspects as though they were frozen in time. Some is melodic, some is ambient, some is minimalist. Does that describe accurately what we're doing here? I hope not! As always, the most important aspect of music is where it takes you, whether or not that has any relation to my original creative intention.
Track 1 uses sequenced synthesizer with improvised piano. Tracks 2 to 5 are entirely improvised, with track 2 performed on fretless four string and tracks 3 and 4 on fretted five string (yes, track 4 is played entirely on bass). Tracks 2 to 5 are all recorded in real-time in one take without edits.
