Having spent four months in the studio cooking, Strangely Arousing return with a fresh direction. Lifted from forthcoming sophomore offering, their psych-rock track Ladeda collaborates the member’s long accumulated music tastes while also featuring a definitive nod towards the current scenes of trap and alternative cultures.
Bringing a new, lyrically powered angle to their work, the band finds themselves showing a vulnerable side with lyrics reflecting on matters of addiction and mental health within the industry.
Vocalist/Guitarist Lukas Wharekura’s Tame Impala inspired vocal delivery sits atop a mountain of lush synth pads which transports the listener into the shoes of an aspiring musician struggling to make sense of their life choices but ultimately finding reassurance in the friends supporting them in their trials, successes and failures.
Emerging from an era in which Fat Freddy’s Drop and Red Hot Chili Peppers are considered heritage artists and human’s are no longer boxed by sexuality, one might describe Strangely Arousing as “Trans Genre!” And comfortably so.
July 28th 2017 sees the release of Strangely Arousing, an 11 song exploration into the minds, hearts and souls of 5 musical gypsies from Rotorua, New Zealand.
