Redlining, redlining, I don't know what they're trying
Those banks are all just lying when they say they've got no dough

Well now, let me tell y'all something about redlining:
Back in the day it was a low-down sneaky way
banks and lenders kept folks, mostly black and brown,
out of certain neighborhoods

They'd draw a red line around parts of town on a map
Saying "no loans here", like putting up invisible fences
Didn't matter if a family was honest, hardworking,
or even had the coin.
If they lived inside that line they were shut out

It wasn't just unfair, it was a slow poison to dreams
Keeping folks from building wealth or settling roots
Ain't no justice in that, no sir.
