Drifter by SUNDAYS
Approaching the release of their sophomore album, danish folk-rock outfit SUNDAYS release another single, a darkly hopeful love song titled “Drifter”.
Produced in cooperation with Asger Techau (of danish rockband KASHMIR), who is also behind the wheel on the upcoming album “Inner Coasts”, the song presents itself as a dimly lit romantic ballad, situated in a constant, almost hypnotic drive.
“The song is one of two major love dramas on the record,” says lead man and songwriter Magnus Jacobsen. He explains how the song portrays love as a condition of being adrift between islands. “I’m trying to describe this early stage of infatuation, where you have an almost eerie sense of being drawn towards someone, like a calling.”
As a single, “Drifter” also offers an impression of the style of the upcoming album. With Techau on board, the band has ventured forth from the pop-sensibilities of their renowned debut album “Wiaca” (2019), approaching a sound that has a more rockish and unpolished edge, without foregoing the catchiness and melodic accessibility that are the hallmarks of SUNDAYS.
“Drifter” is releasing digitally as a single on February 5th,and the album “Inner Coast” is out on vinyl, CD and digitally on March 26thvia Celebration Records (DK) and K&F Records (DE).
