Twilight Altar by Sunlight Altar

Sunlight Altar are Terzij de Horde’s Joost Vervoort and guitarist and producer Jayant Makhan, two long time friends who have experimented with collaborations over the years before settling on Sunlight Altar’s style of quiet and dark folk. They draw inspiration from old folk music and mantra as much as from modern examples like David Eugene Edwards, Jason Molina, and Hexvessel.

Over several years of playing and writing together, the duo found themselves at home in the quiet, dark stillness that permeates Twilight Altar, as a refuge and well of power for those fighting and caring for a better world in the face of fascism and ecological destruction. This intent reflects Joost and Jayant’s friendship, which was built on decades of shared interest in spiritual practice.
