Taylor Deupree's main tool in creating Comma, was the use of repetition in a very conscious and controlled manner. The exploration of patterns that are always changing, in very subtle ways, over time, layered in nonstandard time signatures over minimal, 4/4 beats. This creates a very hypnotic and meditative sound.

Taylor Deupree is the founder of 12k, an independent record label based in a rural area north of New York CIty. Started in 1997, 12k has pioneered a form of experimental ambient music involving delicate hybrids of digital technology and acoustic instrumentation.
