…it’s been so long now,
this fire that was so ours
burns us from all sides

It has also been a long way,
as far as we can see outside
As far as we can see,
our fate it seems so unclear


Where did our intuition go,
did it float away with the embers
Did it float away with words,
or did we simply look away

It was supposed to just keep us warm,
but it changed our direction
Took this evolutionary leap,
forgot how to stand back

A glowing vast horizon flares and flows
This fire once near,
was never ours to house in fear

The fire that we started still remains
it lingers waiting for us all
to find through a cold and misguided haze

Now the light that leads is not one we shone
Blinded by the flicker of promise and excess
These dreams are not our own,
