Psacred Psalms by The Mercy Beats

Released in the fourth quarter of 1964, "Psacred Psalms" continued a great streatk for the band.

The band's sound continued to evolve with this release. Sanguine leader Simon Tate drove the pop sensibilities of his song arrangements.

However, at the urging of producer George Luther Martin, Jonah Brady, wanted evolve their sound beyond what he called Simon’s "Blibber-Blubber Grand-Pappy Pop."

Simon’s pop influence still drives the album, including "Taste and See" with a pop beat that harkened back to the world wars fought by the silent generation. Jonah was allowed to arrange some musical numbers for their public domain hymns that involved more intricate and experimental instrumentation, including having George Luther Martin bring strings in on some of the tracks. “All Glory, Laud and Honor,” “O Lord, by Thee Delivered,” and “Commit Thou All Thy Griefs” are among the tops of Jonah’s contribution.
