The elite of bare-handed diggers
are excavating the seemingly endless
sources of curious matter,
digging high up into infinity,
spading down, mining
even more sources of supply,
until all usable substances are taken away,
the entire tunnel complex collapses
and the whole surface is covered with empty craters
full of lifeless keen-edged sand
that nothing or no one can withstand for a long time,
until even the machines of destruction will dissolve
in the endless mill of coming and going
and all remaining is the void of irretrievable loss,
hiding the dark side from the imaginary all-seeing eye.
