Our Reasons

This pursuit is purely reason
Its painted presence represents
Dreams understood by true believers
And withheld from all of them

I was floating on the surface
Of a body, of a friend
No other message to fixate upon
Than breathing out and breathing in

We'll attempt the rest
Though we will never finish it
We will find ourselves instead
We'll write our phrases in the sand

So this is where the sound goes
Amongst all the things we broke
We will listen for its phrase
Its reason will reverberate

In the laugh lines on your face
In open wounds, on better days
And in these places we'll create
Another kind of change
