She was working at the roadhouse

And they camped out in the ranges
A single swag beneath the milky way

There is life here in the desert
It’s a sure thing that I know

They got some acres out past Kimba
Sowed some grain and bought some sheep in
Had two kids and waited for the rain
She played darts in town on Thursdays
There was footy on the weekends
He joined the ambos and she CWA

There’s a life here in the desert
For us to build a home
All we need’s a little water and it’ll grow

There’s nothing like the sunrise and the air here in the morning
She took a job in town to help with the loan
And on Friday they’re going over to the church yard with the pastor
To send another good man off to God
