Kaval Sviri - Кавал свири

This song is one of the classics in our repertoire. Based on a folk song from Thrace, this arrangement was popularized on the album "Les Mystére des Voix Bulgares" (1988) by Ensemble Trakia of the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir. Petar Lyondev is a celebrated Bulgarian composer, who is one of a cohort of composers who created a vast library of folksong arrangements that came out of Bulgaria in the second half of the 20th century. We learned this piece while singing in the Yale Slavic Chorus.
