The restless house sparrow has laid me an egg
All flecked blue and brown in its nest
I’ll make me a wish
I’ll wish her the best
And may we enjoy a fine summer.

The blue is the sky, the brown is the ground,
My sparrow flits from one to t’other
She’s made all her babies the finest of beds
And waits for their bodies to mother.

The sparrow she eats anything she can find
From seeds fruits to earthworms around.
She’ll pinch them from fruit trees
Catch flies in the air
And pull up the worms from the ground.

Oh little house sparrow your gorgeous round egg,
It brings us the promise of love.
Please show us our worth on this generous earth,
A summer from the blue skies above.
