Wait by The Stick Arounds

A little while ago, Mr. Joel Kuiper, aka The Kernel, started writing some songs for the Stick Arounds. This is mostly noteworthy in that it’s not often that the drummer in a band writes music, lyrics, all of it.

It’s not just that, though.

Joel has always been the essential heart (or Kernel, if you will), of the Stick Arounds process for arranging songs. Few people are such an encyclopedia of songs, and truly know what makes them work.

What really blew us all away was when he started hitting it out of the park almost immediately with fully-formed power-pop tunes that displayed that knowledge of song craft that few people possess.

“But Stick Arounds,” you say, “I already have this song on a CD Single you released last year!”

Yes, that is true, but we never felt that this gem of a tune got its proper due, so we spruced it up and gave it the proper Hot Singles Club treatment.

Friends, we now present to you 'Wait' as it was meant to be heard.

The Stick Arounds bring forth bombastic garage rock, sharp Byrds-esque pop, Guided By Voices inspired abandon, and classic rock turned on its’ ear - all threaded together with instrumental ingenuity and a penchant for clever and thoughtful lyrics.

Tying all of that together is a signature three guitar attack featuring lush vocal harmonies, all backed by a pulsing rhythm section.
