Oyster by Tiki Cowboys
New remixes and instrumentals of Tiki Cowboy's favorite tracks!
Tiki Cowboys latest album OYSTER features ten new tracks of instrumentals and re-mixes of previously released recordings from the Tiki Cowboys music catalog. This includes the first EP release, A Taste Of Tiki from 2009, along with tracks on the album Island Dreams from 2015, and most recently, Rise And Shine released in 2024.
These ‘Oyster Re-mixes’ include additional instrumentation, vocals, and sound effects, giving these tracks a new dynamic and energy. With some of the tracks being many years old, the availability of today’s computing power and software allowed for some production improvements utilizing more daring sonics and sound treatments.
“The world is your oyster...”, was a definite mantra with this album project! Having virtual instrumentation, vocals and sounds supplied from music software was a great advantage at accomplishing my artistic vision for these songs here in 2025 that wasn‘t available earlier when I created them prior. Field recordings weave into the songs with outdoor sounds of insects and birds, a lion’s roar recorded at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo, and vehicle sounds including low flying jets from the Chicago Air and Water Show!
Tiki Cowboys is an Exotica, Country, Blues and Surf Rock music mash-up recording project which began in 2007 by percussion and ukulele player, singer and songwriter, Eric Behrenfeld.
Musicians on the album include Curt Bisquera and Bob Holdsworth [Bass], Don Merz (aka Woody Johnson) [Guitar], along with vocals from Daniela Spagnolo, Alicia Townsend and Tommy McCracken.
