It's truly a song of gratitude. Before the release of this EP, it had been nearly over a year since I decided to release any music. For reasons such as not feeling good enough or capable of releasing music people would like. I had sunk into a deep pit of depression feeling like I had to compromise who I was as a person and artist to appeal to what was popular and catchy. In times like this, I had to realign myself with the truth. And the things I know benefit me well. I had to look at my true support system.
While I never clearly say who I'm talking about in the song... it can be interpreted in many ways. Following the approach of Marvin Sapp's "Never Would of Made It" I made sure to not single in any one in particular but to just thanks altogether. Now personally, when I first started writing this song it was dedicated to God. At the hight of wanting to walk away from music altogether I felt the love of God wrapped all around me giving so much peace, telling me to keep going. As I continued I started to reflect on people like my mom, brother, sister, Floor General who have been by my side since day one.
Making this song told me to never focus on the negative... remember who is on your side. Even though it hurts when the people you've stood up for are quiet when it's your turn... keep going... God will surround you with the right people.
