On the 33rd All Centre release, Jordan-based artist Toumba takes the helm with three intricate, club-ready productions.
The EP opens with Floating on the Dead Sea. Delicate synths and low drones usher in an atmospheric introduction to the record, before the gradual emergence of complex percussion. Piercing sirens and pulsating mid-range basslines weave around the compelling half-time rhythms to produce a tripped-out dancefloor track.
Toumba keeps up the pace with 115, a bass-heavy track hovering around the 140bpm mark. A perfectly balanced combination of detailed percussive patterns are punctuated by short vocal chants. The introduction of metallic stabs and rising drones continue to up the intensity, perfect for peak-time moments in the club.
The record closes out with lr7eb. This time dancehall-adjacent rhythms provide the backbone of the track, supplemented by Toumba’s signature percussive styles. Vocal ad libs cry out as as an intricate synth line loops and evolves throughout the track, complementing expertly crafted sound design and booming drums.
115 is out across all platforms on the 21st January.
