Practice unmakes imperfect -

In 8+ years of fully improvised live sets, I've come to understand practice as a process of undoing ideas about "getting it right." When you're making up the whole track as you go, playing the perfect thing is not as important as appreciating whatever you played, integrating it into the direction of the music, and maintaining flow to the next zone. The idea of a mistake makes less and less sense, it's not useful or relevant.

Practice unmakes imperfect and we're free to be intimate with the sound as it really exists. Does this approach work? I think these beautiful and surprising tracks make a pretty good case.

Recorded January & February 2023 with 2x Boss DR-5, Novation Circuit Rhythm, and a delay pedal, during practice sessions for a live set at Chaos Computer (released on Trackland as A Cake Of Plate: Live & Fully Improvised).
