At its heart this is a pretty simple tune, with "less is more" being the order of the day, especially during the Pat Metheny-inspired chorus (because sometimes open string harmonics ARE all that is called for).

For my part though, this song is all about the bass - much like when I heard the bass on "Consequences" during the first time, I burst out laughing with joy as I watched Gustaf record this track. Especially the outro.

In what must be a one-in-a-million kind of coincidence it turned out that Gustaf and I have the same favourite bassist - when he initially asked me what I had in mind, I referred to the sublime bass playing on Allan Holdsworth's tracks "In The Mystery" and "Panic Stations" off the "Metal Fatigue" album, lines delivered by the legendary Jimmy Johnson.

As such, Gustaf was on the level from day zero - and seeing him effortlessly lay down these sick groovy lines on "Undoing", particularly during the outro sections, brought tears of joy to my eyes. Yes, bass can be THAT good.
