Naloga by Victor Gama

NALOGA was released to coincide with INSTRUMENTOS, the exhibition/performance of Victor Gama's contemporary musical instruments curated by Yinka Shonibare for Deloitte Ignite Africa-Weekend 2012 at the Royal Opera House in London. NALOGA reveals the depth and diversity of Victor Gama's work for instruments he himself has designed, built and developed for over two decades and illustrates projects such as Pangeia Instrumentos, Tectonik:Tombua, Odantalan and Oceanites Erraticus.

NALOGA is composed for Gama's extensive range of musical instruments such as the toha, acrux, zulao, tahra, morcego, espi, several types of kissanges (Angolan lamelophone) his 12 string guitar and more. It features world-renowned musicians such as Felipe Garcia Villamil (Emikeke, Cuba), Hugo Candelário (Grupo Bahia, Colombia), Cuban soprano singer Yetzabel Arias Fernandez, Brazilian percussionist Giba Conceição (Margareth Menezes) and Cuban Tata Nganga Matias Campo. Compositions, field recordings, interviews and research were done in Angola, South Africa, Namibia and Cuba for over a decade.
