We all have come to face to face with the true nature inside, the terrible things we've done. It makes us feel unworthy of even thinking of God sometimes. Obviously parts of this come from the crucifixion of Peter, who requested to be set upside down as he wasn't worthy to die in the same way as Jesus. But no matter how unworthy we feel, The Lord has forgiven us already if we've accepted Him into our lives. He counts us righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ.
