Before this, I had long been fascinated by Indian music, and as a producer, it is common for me to sample old Hindi records, the scratches, dust, and imperfections adding the authenticity that underground beat makers, notably artists like Madlib, seek in their creations. I had thought about exploring this style for some time, but it was not until I met Diljit Dosanjh’s backup singer that inspiration truly struck. This encounter shifted my focus toward creating Indian music with a more mainstream pop sensibility, blending tradition with contemporary sound.
