Sunnesther's latest addition to her prolific catalog keeps reassuring her place as one of Mexico's cult, independent artists that have found in electronic music an outlet, not just for experimentation, but for deeply personal expression as well. It should go without saying, but Sunnesther has always been able to endow her music with raw emotion that oozes through her excellent use of sampling and sound manipulation, and this album is no exception.

Im' yourcastle displays Sunnesther's songwriting abilities, with well-crafted tracks that have different sections and movements within them that seamlessly flow into each other, creating a very linear experience because of its cohesiveness. This is also Sunnesther at her most energetic and rhythm-driven, a slight departure from the more spacious tracks she had been creating, where beats were more sparse or completely absent, but fans of her ambient side should not fear, as there's plenty of that too; however, the overall experience feels more uplifting than usual, almost like a celebration of different moments in Sunnesther's life, and while the darkness and melancholy of previous albums is still present, it has now been integrated into the psyche and collective unconscious these tracks inhabit. With each album, Sunnesther is finding more emotional balance, and it feels as if we were being permitted to gaze into her world to witness her growth. An artist sharing something so personal without falling into self-indulgence is a rare gift to receive, and we should be thankful.
