Fixed Figures by Vooo

Fixed Figures is like a musical peek into my diary, a collection of the most personally meaningful tracks I recorded since my first record, Arrival. Each song was picked for this release on the basis of the strong emotional connections I made while writing or listening. Rawness is the one word I would pick to describe this project, as in a substance in its natural state; not yet processed or purified. The music is left in the rough-hewn quality in which I originally connected to it because for these particular tracks, my attempts to polish and re-format them left me feeling further from the source. Each track really became a fixed figure to me, as if any alterations would disguise and detract from that true initial spark.

Releasing this album is a trust fall in presenting an honest look into the imperfect ways that I hear and connect to my own music. My hope is that the listening experience will be as resonating, cathartic and maybe even as challenging for you as it has been for me.

The music on this record has been particularly inspired by the work of Derrick Hodge, Nicholas Semrad, DJ Harrison, Swarvy, Kiefer, Javier Santiago and Omari Jazz.
