Occlude OST by Vortigan King

Occlude is a game of occult solitaire - a ritual disguised as a game of cards.

The game was released Tributary Games in the Summer of 2025, and published by Pantaloon Interactive. I composed this music in the Winter and Spring of that year, starting in a garden shed in Whitstable and doing the bulk of the composition and recording at home in London. This was my first substantial game audio commission and I'm eternally grateful to Tributary for asking me to do it.

During the game, the music dynamically mixes between these four tracks in order to create a sense of gradually-escalating dread. Here, they are presented as individual tracks so you can experience whatever level of dread you are most comfortable with. The tracks all begin the same but quickly diverge in instrumentation and atmosphere. Their structures are all perfectly mirrored - one extended composition, reflected through four different lenses.

Instruments used include:
- a foley box which I made from a crate, a set of contact mics, and lots of shiny things from the hardware store
- a sample-instrument made from the piano which belonged to my mum (the story of the creation of this instrument is fraught and emotionally complex)
- my beloved AKAI S3000XL
- the Arturia Microfreak
- a eurorack situation
