Every BigCat release feels like a world-building experience. Each song adds texture and depth to the overall piece, ultimately providing every aspect of the palette one needs to understand the world it builds. It’s similar to the way the early chapters from books or opening scenes from a film can provide the feel and cues necessary to fully envelop you in everything that comes after. The later pieces then tell the story, and recolor the earlier details through repetition, transformation, and the consistency of aesthetic.

“Idle Chatter” is lush with the familiar lulling instrumentation from earlier BigCat releases on Warm Gospel, but its world is more populated. Subtle vocal samples and intentional rhythms thread in-and-out of the soft, twirling layers of mist building up the foundation of each song, providing the album with more of a human element. You can hear the texture of a fingerprint pressed firmly and evenly across the entire soundspace.
