Warm Gospel 51

Warm Gospel has had the pleasure of being with Tires since the very beginning. The sixth tape I ever did on the label was a split between Tires and Digital Bear. Digital Bear went on to change their name to Big Digital after a cease-and-desist letter from some recording studio up north claiming the name belonged to them. Tires would go on to release two more tapes on the label of EP material, WG09 and WG20. It’s been a long ride.

Now, after years of making cassettes and spinning music onto miles of magnetic tape, I’m excited to announce the long-awaited release of the self-titled debut Tires album. Recorded more or less “live” at Flat Black Studios in Iowa City, the album captures the warmth and power of Tires’ analog electronic-led sound. Ranging from quiet synth builds to maximalist post-(kraut)rock walls of instrumentation, the whole album is like a study in kinetic energy. Synthesizers swirl around a thick core of textured distortion which push hard before letting off into airy transitions that weave together the major movements of the album.

It’s been a long time in the making, but if you’ve had the pleasure of catching Tires live, anytime over the past few years, you probably have an idea of the sonic assault waiting for you on this tape. If not, well…
