I would write "Happy Summer Solstice" but it isn't a happy one this year. This year, it feels like some kind of downward, backward pull. And so, as we sink, this recording marks the Summer Solstice.

Regressing to the outer borders
Approaching the darkened command centre
Edified in the blank landscape
You are here with the rest of us
Held in the thrall of another long winter
Telling ourselves it must be warm again someday
Until we just can't remember anything else
Maybe the world has always been this way?
I can only curl up beside a fire
Zoned and dethroned
And go to sleep until tomorrow
