The stars look different,
and the nightingales gone.
Can you still sing to some self

All you are is what you've never been,
slight of hand drawn with an azure pen.
Fell to the earth as someone new.

Painted birds all around your head.
A cast iron handful of silhouettes,
even the hummingbird and seahorse stared.

Someday has come and now it will never end,
A ferris wheel spun by a malcontent.
Transgressed and transgress unto me.

Leading actor in a remake film,
destiny up against the kill.
Rotate free,
as though at will.

Mortal explains the lightning bolt.
Poison pill the salvation of revolt.
Your crystal ball always spoke back,
daydream sewn into the mask.

Black badge under a blood sky.
The dogs are all out looking for alibis,
they eat fever words and haven't got caught,
they stare at the camera and ask,
"Is that all you got?"

Film holds your image,
yeah, a reckless dare.
