From a musician’s point of view, the explosion of music tools/apps (often referred to as “Digital/Analog Work Stations or “DAWS”) has opened up a sonic universe for the contemporary composer that is unprecedented. We can now draw upon, and incorporate sounds from ancient instruments and without geographical limitations in our compositions. Time and geography are no longer limitations to imagining a composition. We can incorporate the sounds of an ancient string instrument from Japan, like the Koto, as heard on a number of this album tracks, along with sounds from nature (reference the track “Bees”), along with sounds created by a modern synthesizer, which are often sounds uniquely crafted by the composer/sound-artist, fresh to human ears. The sonic possibilities are unlimited, which, as you can probably imagine, is both exhilarating and daunting at the same time!

The title of this album, Time Tracks, alludes to the “folding of time” sonically speaking. The time continuum flattens and sounds from ancient civilizations are melded with electronic emanations and timeless sounds from the natural world. The lines that have previously delineated sonic time and space no longer hinder.
