Mindsnap's 5 tracks take a darker, more intense turn in sound, drawing comparisons to the evolution of The Cure from their jangly 1979 debut to the more haunting style of their 1982 work. With its darker tones, Mindsnap promises a distinct evolution in World News's style, bringing in clearer genre definitions and further exploration into post-punk, Shoegaze and Krautrock while still keeping their indie rock melodic sensibilities and ever-guessing lyrics.

Co-written by Alex and Rory Evans, the brothers have crafted a deeply emotive and intense narrative in their work, channelling themes of mental health struggles, addiction, self-harm, and self-sabotage. These challenging subjects lend themselves to the tension-and-release style, which mirrors the highs and lows of these experiences. Modulation adds to this symbolising shifts in mood or perspective.
