Homemade by Yellowlees
The 'Homemade' EP is exactly that: this was a DIY-driven project in every single sense. It was recorded entirely in my second-year bedroom at university, with the help of some dear friends and collaborators. Some of my favourite albums have a very stripped-back style, and I tried to emulate that with a cajon, shakers (a Lucozade bottle filled with rice), and claps/clicks accompanying my playing. The result is, I hope, a welcoming, slice-of-life EP, complete with snippets of conversation, which is as catchy and fun as it is heartfelt. Plus, it features a duet between my wonderful friend Laura Goldthorp and I - she's a phenomenal musician, and I'm so glad she agreed to sing on this EP. One day, some of these songs might get re-recorded with full production, but for now, enjoy them in their original form.
