While waiting for the release of their debut album “Halak, Halak” (slightly postponed because of the crisis), mighty Palestinian electronic music duet Zenobia have recorded this brand-new song which, unlike the tracks on the album, contains an extensive vocal part.
“Galbi Dari” (‘The Heart Knows’) was recorded in confinement, in the band members’ respective home studios in and around Haïfa. The lyrics of this cool Arabic pop ditty refer to any human relationship where one of the sides involved starts to change and become less sincere.
As a reminder, Zenobia’s powerful , Middle-Eastern infused beats have already won them devoted fans, and have enabled them to tour around the world, after having only released an EP (“Ksr Ksr Ksr”, on Acid Arab Records/Crammed Discs). They were meant to support their debut album’s release by touring around Europe this summer (with appearances at Womad and Roskilde festival, a.o.).
Combining Arabic pop melodies, Palestinian/Syrian dabke rhythms, synths & powerful beats with occasional dubby flavours, Zenobia are at the forefront of the new, vibrant Palestinian electronic music movement.
