Surreal Circus by Raluca Apetria

Surreal Circus is a fabulous adventure, a musical ceremony, a rite of passage.

It’s modal progressions, rich chords, colourful melodies and folklore inspired themes, leads us down a rabbit hole to fictional musical stories.

"Initiation Wells" sets the tone for adventure, seducing us in embracing the journey. After being initiated and the doors of perception were cleansed and open, "The Gipsy Dancer" invites you to join the hypnotique spiral dance : collective memory activated!

"Late night talks with Mr. Octopus", illustrates musically a transcendental experience, a series of imaginary conversations with an octopus.

"Shinrin-Yoku" transports us in the forest, to reconnect with the nature and with oneself.

Here, in the heart of the magical forest, the voice of the wise old woman guides us in our final destination. "La Voz Mitológica", inspired by folklore stories from Eastern Europe countries with the common themes like women' s psyche and soul.

The album is the mystical expression of a perspective schift, a celebration of awakening, an invitation to personal discoveries and inner horizons which I have the honour to share with you.

Currently based in Brussels, Raluca Apetria is involved in several musical projects as a composer, pianist, keyboardist and piano teacher.

Raluca’s warm, sometimes sorrowful playing may reflect a close proximity to Romanian and Russian folk-music, which she cites as major influences on her musicality.
